St. John of God Liffey Services, in collaboration with SJOG Kerry Services, hosted an engaging and inspiring event at The Rose Hotel, Tralee, as part of the SAID Project (School Assistants for Digital Education) initiative. The theme for the afternoon was “Enhancing Educational Inclusivity and Digital Literacy,” and it proved to be a vibrant celebration of innovation, empowerment, and inclusivity.
The showcase was an interactive and dynamic experience, featuring hands-on workshops led by men and women with IDs. Attendees had the opportunity to learn directly from these digital coaches, who demonstrated their expertise in interactive games and tools designed to enhance digital literacy. These sessions not only highlighted the participants’ capabilities but also served as a powerful reminder of the importance of breaking down barriers to inclusion.
In addition to the workshops, the event facilitated insightful discussions and networking opportunities among educators, advocates, and stakeholders in digital education. The conversations centred around advancing accessibility and inclusivity in education, emphasising the collective effort required to foster a digitally-savvy and equitable environment for all. These digital coaches are not only helping primary schools embrace digital education but also serving as role models, demonstrating the immense potential within the ID community.
